The Globe Pelham is not like most Pelhams as this bit is only used with one rein - there is no snaffle ring on this bit although it has a curb chain
This bit may be suitable for Novice riders or for the young who need the curb action but couldn’t handle to reins. When the rein is used the bit puts pressure on the poll due to the hanging cheek and then the curb chain comes into play - the greater the length of shank the greater the amount of leverage and curb action.
The bit also uses various pressures in the mouth depending on the mouthpiece. The curb chain should be fitted so there is a bit of give so not to tighten up straight away.

For jumping it may prove useful to use a elastic curb chain.
